CUNY Building Performance Lab

A more cohesive identity for a growing research institution

A logo is one thing. Knowing how to use it across reports, presentations, stationery, and everything else your organization produces is another.

When we began working with CUNY Building Performance Lab, they had an existing logo and basic brand guidelines, yet the identity wasn’t working as cohesively as it could. We started by refining the logo itself, adjusting the hierarchy and placement of its elements to create a more harmonious whole. That became the foundation for a more complete visual system.

We developed two distinct looks for reports and presentations, along with detailed templates and comprehensive brand guidelines. We also refreshed basic stationery, including business cards and letterhead, and provided ongoing support through one-on-one design reviews and live training sessions.

The goal was to give their team more than a set of files — it was to give them a clear, practical system they could actually use.
